So my talented younger brother, Colin, was in town last month. He was touring with the Broadway show Wicked. (He was playing Fiyero for all those who actually know the show.) It was great having him in town, since we haven’t lived in the same town for any length of time since I was in high school.

Of course, when Colin’s visiting, for any decent amount of time, it’s become tradition to reshoot his acting headshots. This is not something I do for anyone other than Colin. And of course, this time around, he and I put it off until the absolute last day we both had time to do it.

So, as an excuse to post some images to my blog, here are some images from our 2-hour, bare-bones shoot. (We didn’t even get to finish one glass of whiskey during the shoot!) He IS a handsome devil, ain’t he. Check him out, he’s on The Facebook. I’m sure he’s going to be the next big thing, or at least star in a commercial or two someday.

And on top of that, I’ve received a couple of nice shout-outs this week.

First, I’ve launched a dedicated site for my ongoing Philadelphia Polling Place Project. It was put together by my good friend Robert West. Check it out. And for all of you on my mailing list, keep an eye out for a postcard with the info about the launch.

On that same note, the Committee of Seventy, an election watchdog group here in Philly, has highlighted my voting project on their homepage. Seventy is a fantastic organization and I’m deeply honored to be linked by them.

I was also notified that my portfolio was selected in the Portfolios of the Month section by the good people at Photoserve. Check out the rotating slideshow on their homepage.

Now I’m signing off for awhile to get some work done. Please keep your voice down.

Back from a short vacation to the Heartland to see the in-laws and my parents. I got a short note from my buddy Peter Dennen, the Director of Photography at Aurora Photos, letting me know that the agency has chosen to highlight some of my images in the Creative Hub section of their website.

I’ve always said that, in the course of running a photography biz, I only want to work with good people. And Aurora is filled with those kinds of people.

Every year they throw a great party for their contributing photographers on bucolic Sebago Lake in Maine (evidence: photos here) and they’re always thinking of fascinating ways to push their photographers creatively. Evidence: this cool project celebrating Aurora’s 15th anniversary.

Thanks for the Shout Out, Aurora
